1 Mediacom is third U.S. cable operator to take Xumo Stream Box
Mediacom Communications will become the third U.S. cable operator to introduce the Xumo Stream Box, as the next-generation platform built on the Comcast/Sky Entertainment OS gains traction as a streaming-focused video service for broadband homes.

Mediacom Communications is the fifth largest cable operator in the U.S. and will offer Xumo Stream Box to Xtream Internet customers to give them a wide choice of FAST programming combined with popular streaming apps. The device includes 4K streaming and powerful voice navigation.

Xumo is the Comcast and Charter JV formed to deliver next-gen video entertainment, and it begun nationwide roll-out of its first streaming devices to Charter and Comcast households recently. "Mediacom’s decision to partner with Xumo further validates our unique value proposition for operators looking to maintain an entertainment-centric relationship with customers as they migrate to streaming video,” declares Michael Gatzke, Senior Vice President, Affiliate Development, Xumo.

Tapan Dandnaik, SVP of Operations, Product Strategy and Consumer Experience at Mediacom, says: “Through our partnership with Xumo, we will be able to significantly enhance the value of our broadband services by combining our market leading-speeds with a new world-class streaming experience. We are excited to be among the first companies to bring this cutting-edge device to market.”

Upon startup, Xtream Internet customers will see live video from Xumo Play, the device’s primary video service app. Additionally, the built-in channel guide makes browsing through Xumo Play’s 300+ channels a seamless part of the experience.

Xumo Stream Box comes with the ability to access hundreds of subscription-based and ad-supported streaming apps, including Apple TV+, Disney+, Hulu, Max, Netflix, Peacock, Pluto, Prime Video, Tubi and Xumo Play. The content-centric experience blends AI-driven personalisation and human-led editorial recommendations to help customers find something to watch without having to jump in and out of apps.

Viewers can discover content quickly from available apps and services with a simple voice command into the remote control. Every member of a household can have their own Favourite list using the My List feature. Favourites can be assembled from any live or on-demand content source.

Entertainment OS is the entertainment solution powering video innovation across Comcast and Sky and now an increasing number of other Pay TV/broadband operators globally. Among other things, it combines the innovative UI technology of Sky Glass and the search and discovery features inherent to platforms like Xfinity X1 and Xfinity Flex.
