2 Public library users get free access to premium SVOD
Hallmark Movies Now is the first streaming service to harness the integration between Accedo One and hoopla Digital to allow public library users to stream movies and entertainment using their library pass, opening SVOD services to a new group of potential users.
Hallmark Movies Now, Hallmark Media’s SVOD offering, is the first streaming service to take advantage of an out-of-the box integration between Accedo One and hoopla Digital comand so allow public library users in the U.S. to stream movies and entertainment using their library pass. By treating paid streaming services in the same way as books, hoopla Digital opens SVOD services to a new group of potential users.

Hallmark Media's SVP of Streaming Distribution, Lauri McGarrigan, comments: "Our partnership with hoopla gives us a unique opportunity to reach a new audience and expand awareness of Hallmark Movies Now.”

Accedo One is the Saas user experience platform from Accedo, the video solutions provider. Hoopla Digital is the digital brand and service of Midwest Tape, a trusted physical media provider to public libraries for almost 30 years.

In December 2021, hoopla unveiled BingePass in response to surging consumer appetite for binge-watching content, and this allows patrons at participating libraries to stream and download digital media with a valid library card (alongside music, audiobooks, comics and more). BingePass provides unlimited access to content for seven days via a free mobile app and online, and is available in North America, Australia and New Zealand.

Leveraging their hoopla identity, library card holders can seamlessly log in and dive into a curated content experience as though they were subscribers to the OTT platform.

Jeff Jankowski, President of hoopla Digital, explains: “Demand for digital video content continues to grow in the library space, with library card holders requesting new and well-known movies and television series they can stream through the hoopla platform. We are growing to meet this demand with offerings like the Hallmark Movies Now BingePass, which has been made possible through the collaboration with Accedo One.

“Now, more video service providers can easily integrate with hoopla, expanding the reach of their content to our audience of nearly 10 million registered users.”

Accedo says the partnership, “signifies a game-changing strategy primed to captivate new audiences and enhance user influx for video platforms.” Accedo One customers can benefit from this seamless integration (found in the Accedo One marketplace) immediately.

Fredrik Andersson, SVP Products at Accedo, emphasises that the hoopla BingePass integration “offers an optimised user experience and broadens video service providers' reach."
