Looking to gain an edge in a cut-throat fixed broadband arena, UK full-fibre internet service provider Air Broadband has entered into a partnership with Netgem TV to enhance its home entertainment network through TV channels, sports and blockbuster films.

Claiming a reach of almost a million homes across the UK, Air Broadband offers access to symmetrical full-fibre broadband services with speeds beginning at 100Mbps upload and download for homes and businesses in many towns and villages across the UK. It also provides those on benefit programmes with broadband access through the Air Support social tariff with 100Mbps upload and download. With digital TV now joining its product line-up, Air Broadband believes that it can now drive the broadband industry to embrace commercial products beyond basic broadband service provision towards better valued future.

Netgem has already signed more than 15 partnership agreements with fibre providers in the UK offering TV and streaming services to a reach of over a quarter of a million of the UK homes complementing their access to gigabit enabled fibre broadband.

The new deal will give Air Broadband customers access to TV channels and content including Hollywood and Bollywood blockbusters, TV box sets and sports, as well as gaming and apps. TV customers also get a year of Amazon Prime for free.

For those Air Broadband customers purchasing a 1000Mbps service, the Netgem TV box addition is free as part of their service if they opt in. Customers can also purchase additional boxes to kit out their whole home with digital TV access.

Commenting on the new offer, Air Broadband CEO Andrew Glover remarked: "Combining incredible broadband and TV allows homes to replace the multiple subscriptions they do not need with the one £7 monthly subscription, saving money and enjoying entertainment at the same time."

Aziz Laouir, head of business development at Netgem TV, added: "This partnership is great news for Air Broadband customers who will benefit from a wide range of entertainment by combining Air Broadband's connectivity with our high-quality TV. Today, Netgem TV is proud to count Air Broadband among its partners. As Netgem TV continues to add inclusive premium content and access to more streaming services, ISPs will continue to grow their customer bases and increase ARPU.”
