Primarily, Insight TV is joining forces with Red Bull Media House to co-produce Breaking Boundaries, a new series centred on the breaking/break dancing cultural phenomenon. In the six-part series, six pairs of breakers discover hip hop culture in different cities around the world. In every episode, each breaker is shown in his or her hometown and then is paired with a fellow breaker in a different city to experience a whole new outlook on breaking culture.

Destination cities include Rio de Janeiro, Tokyo, London, Rotterdam, Lagos and New York City and the pairs will share experiences and dance together, which bring new moves and perspectives to the local communities, as well as new stories and skills to share with their families and friends back home. Pre-production and casting is already under way and filming in 4K UHD HDR will begin in September 2020 with a premiere slated for Spring 2021.

“The title Breaking Boundaries has significance on more than one level – both the breakers and the production team are definitely breaking boundaries for this series,” explained Arun Maljaars, VP content and channels, Insight TV. “In joining forces with Red Bull Media House, we are combining the resources of our two international media companies to overcome the obstacles and restrictions created by the lockdowns to create a truly unique series. It’s a collaboration on an epic scale and we’re excited to share it with our viewers around the world.”

In East Europe, and in a move that it says further cements its commitment to viewers in the country, Insight TV has gained distribution on Vectra, Poland’s largest cable platform. The 4K UHD linear channel will launch on 1 September reaching over 1.7 million subscribers in the region. Insight TV’s feed will be fully localised for the Polish market. “Poland is an important market for Insight TV: both in terms of its size and significance,” said Insight TV distribution manager Adina Gorita. “Vectra is a great platform partner for us and we are delighted to now be available to its subscribers in stunning 4K UHD.”

Insight TV worked with its Polish agent 2Ends Telecom to secure the deal.
