As it aims to deliver its biggest ever virtual programme, the National Academy of Arts and Sciences (NATAS) has selected ionoco’s cloud-hosted PATH Play@Home platform to steam the 47th edition of the Annual Daytime Emmy Awards.
DAYEMMYS 26 July 2020
Live streamed on NATAS’s new OTT service,, the award presenters and nominees will participate from their own homes and other locations across the US via the PATH Play@Home platform.

The scalable interactive video contribution and remote production platform has a variety of access points allowing contributors to their own computers, tablets or phones to access the platform in HD with CD quality audio. Remote presenters join via proprietary PATH @home kits, allowing for remote camera control and wireless audio. Nominees and award presenters are hosted in virtual green rooms prior to their turn on the show. The entire show’s production is controlled via a PATH control room automatically queuing the playback of the pre-edited nomination videos, interstitials and sound effects, cutting the show live. Recently, the PATH platform was used on NBC’s Hollywood Game Night Social Distancing Edition.

Before the event on 26 July, the system was tested across seven award categories with 35 live remote nominees. The actual event will see the Daytime Emmys for Children’s, Lifestyle and Animation programming featuring 20 awards presented in-show and over 100 live remotes. “The need to connect is obviously now more vital than ever,” observed NATAS CEO Adam Sharp. “Following last week’s successful Digital Drama ceremony, we are extremely proud that the Daytime Emmys community will once again have an amazing live show to contribute to and gather around. Key to this ambitious endeavour is ionoco’s PATH platform.”

“We’ve been deploying this technology for some time on smaller scale projects to great success, but nothing of this ambition and entirely live,” added ionoco CEO Simon Ingram. “We’ve fully road tested PATH and we are buzzing now to push the bar on this, to help make the 47th Annual Daytime Emmys as entertaining and inclusive as can be.”
