Cable TV, DTH, IPTV and OTT broadcast and video delivery solutions provider ATEME has been chosen by the Telefónica Group’s audiovisual entertainment arm Movistar+ to provide a converged software headend for distribution of live DTH/OTT services.
By choosing its TITAN transcoding technology, ATEME says that Movistar+ is enhancing its video quality and user experience, reinforcing its position as the leading platform in the Spanish market. As well as supporting a migration to the virtual video headend, TITAN also provides Movistar+ with bandwidth savings in MPEG-2 and H.264, resulting in what is claimed to be significant satellite transponder usage, as well as delivering high quality video at the lowest possible bitrate.“ATEME has consistently proven itself to be an innovative and reliable partner to Telefónica Group and so was the natural choice for this project,” commented Eugenio Lojo, head of transmission and conditional access at Movistar+.
