Revealing a statistic that reflects a growing trend in the industry, broadcast and production software solutions developer of latakoo says that it has witnessed a ‘phenomenal’ increase in usage from the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic by its customers.

Jade Kurian latakoo 15July2020latakoo’s patented technology combined with smart automation sees use in streamlining workflows with companies such as Nexstar Media Group and other broadcasters, television stations and production companies. The company noted that before the pandemic, broadcasters used latakoo primarily to transfer content from one place to another, mostly from the field back to a television station or vice versa. Now almost all broadcasters are doing their jobs remotely.

In June 2020, users of the cloud-based platform were found to have streamed 293% more minutes of footage compared with June 2019. This figure was coupled with a 172% increase in the minutes of footage uploaded and a 189% increase in the number of files streamed. Overall, the company is currently seeing a 127% increase in files uploaded.

Commenting on the increase, Jade Kurian, co-founder and president of latakoo, said “latakoo is simple to use from a UI perspective…[it connects users] with collaborators, files, stories and assignments. That elegance in design and technology really lends itself to dynamic usage in a time like this and we are gratefully the beneficiaries of this new type of remote collaboration. From the moment the Covid-19 lockdowns started around the world, we started seeing a spike in usage and it hasn’t stopped.”
