Making the growing service available to the OTT platform’s more than 8.3 million subscribers, international content producer, distributor and channel operator Blue Ant Media has brought Smithsonian Channel to myTV SUPER in Hong Kong.

BLueAnt Smithsonian Harry Meghan 31March2020Inspired by the world-famous institution – the world's largest museum and research complex, founded when Englishman James Smithson donated his fortune to America for the increase and diffusion of knowledge – the Smithsonian Channel’s original content spans a wide range of non-fiction topics, including history, travel, air and space, science, nature and pop culture. Combined with Showtime and CBS, the Smithsonian Channel claims to have become widely recognised for the quality of its non-fiction programming. It is the youngest channel to have won an Emmy.

myTV SUPER viewers can now enjoy titles including Aerial Cities, which takes viewers on a thrilling flight across busy cityscapes and quiet landscapes; Air Warriors, an in-depth look into the origins and engineering of the most iconic military aircrafts that have revolutionised aerial warfare; Apollo’s Moon Shot, a six-part series that retraces an era when NASA’s team of engineers and astronauts gambled everything to embark on humankind's most ambitious journey; and Million Dollar American Princesses: Meghan Markle (pictured), a one-off special that compares the British monarchy’s controversial princess with other actresses and heiresses who married into European nobility, such as Grace Kelly and Rita Hayworth.

Smithsonian Channel is the latest addition to myTV SUPER from Blue Ant Media’s suite of premium channels, which also carries Blue Ant Entertainment, Blue Ant Extreme and Love Nature 4K. The deal is part of an ongoing partnership between Blue Ant Media and Smithsonian Networks to expand the brand’s footprint internationally.

“We are thrilled to launch Smithsonian Channel in Hong Kong with our partner myTV SUPER,” said Blue Ant Media Asia Pacific CEO Beatrice Lee. “Smithsonian Channel’s content is not necessarily about having all the answers, but about asking the most interesting questions. Complex narratives and characters, open-ended questions, and still-unsolved mysteries all resonate with what our modern audience wants from their entertainment experience. We envision Smithsonian Channel becoming the go-to factual channel for Hong Kong audiences to feed their curiosity and enrich their minds.”
