As it preps for its 6 April launch, Quibi has announced its launch roster which will include content starring Jennifer Lopez, Chrissy Teigen, Chance the Rapper, Liam Hemsworth, Sophie Turner, Lena Waithe, Nicole Richie and Reese Witherspoon.

The millennial-focussed short-form premium mobile TV streaming service is run by former Disney chairman Jeffrey Katzenberg and ex HP and eBay CEO Meg Whitman and has committed to spending in its first year over $600 million on content covering scripted and original entertainment, sports and news. It has already inked deals with the likes of NBCUniversal, and its Spanish-speaking subsidiary Telemundo, The Weather Channel and ESPN.

The roster of stars will show in 50 programmes including Survive, Most Dangerous Game, Thanks A Million, Chrissy’s Court, Murder House Flip, Last Night’s Late Night, The Replay by ESPN. Quibi has committed to releasing 175 original shows and 8,500 quick bites of content in the first year.

Initially, Quibi is offering a 90-day free trials for a limited time for three categories of content. Namely: Movies In Chapters, what are described as big stories told in chapters that are 7 to 10 minutes in length; Unscripted and Docs, an episodic category covering food, fashion, travel, animals, cars, builds, music, sports, comedy, talk, variety and documentaries; Daily Essentials which are daily curated 5-6 minute bites of news and entertainment.

At launch Quibi will cost $4.99 with ads and $7.99 without ads.
