Following the recent, ten deals for its new format Watch!, Media Ranch has announced a number of format partnerships.
Media Ranch Manipulator 5Dec2019
Claiming over a decade’s experience as Canada’s premier format television expert, the producer and a distributor represents a catalogue of internationally titles and thousands of hours of premium content ready for distribution.

The new deals see options sold to leading European firms such as Imago, RDF and RTL. In the first deal, Big Love has been picked up by Imago TV in Germany. The show follows three overweight couples for eight months while they try to ditch their bad habits, and their extra pounds, to rekindle the spark, demonstrating how weight fluctuation can impact relationships.

Factual, social experiment programme Judge for one Day has been sold in Germany to SEO Entertainment/Fish Will Wurm, Banijay France, Tuvalu in the Netherlands, RDF Television in the UK. The first French Belgian episode aired on RTL in November 2019. The programme sees judgment of a crime by eight ordinary people who sit in the judge’s chair for a day. Participants follow the reconstruction of the crimes but we see that each person develops their own unique version of justice.

Sociological show Manipulator— which poses the question: what happens when you walk in someone else’s shoes, especially when that person lives in a different environment and has an opposite background? — has been sold to French Canadian Productions Desferlantes while in the same region 180 Days was also sold to Productions Mustang. Talpa Germany has acquired the rights for its territory and Tuvalu Media has optioned rights for the Netherlands.

Big Love, Judge For One Day, Manipulator and 180 Days are originally from broadcaster/producer DR whose catalogue Media Ranch acquired earlier in 2019.

Commenting on the deals, Media Ranch founder, president and executive producer Sophie Ferron said: “We are especially pleased to round out the year with such a robust slate of sales and Media Ranch continues to enhance our portfolio with the best formats in the world, we are known as the go-to company for content creators, producers, and broadcasting platforms -- attracting and fostering the best talent in the world.”
