As it preps for the offer’s launch in 2020, Uruguayan cable and OTT provider TCC has called on video software solutions provider 3SS to help develop its next generation multiscreen TV service.

With more than 24 years in the market, TCC leads pay-TV services in Uruguay, integrating content and entertainment technologies. The operator has decided to build its upcoming service based on Android TV Operator Tier, Google’s proposition for service providers who wish to deliver advanced TV products featuring the array of apps in the Google Play Store and Google Chromecast pre-integrated, alongside Google Assistant.

A key element is that TCC will engage with subscribers via a branded, customisable launcher and user interface. In building the product, TCC will incorporate the 3SS 3READY Android TV + front end and UI framework solution featuring an Android TV custom launcher STB which will be integrated into its SaaS platform for the pay-TV industry in the region.

By these means, TCC hopes to extend its technology, user experience and quality standards to other network operators in the region in order to increase its current offer, now with more than 200,000 subscribers. 3SS will also carry out the Google Assistant Android TV integration, along with enabling 3READY Assistant, to enable voice search.

TCC has also chosen to deploy 3READY Control Centre, whose targeting and A/B testing capabilities are designed to empower operators to understand what new features will appeal to viewers, this leading to faster and more successful product enhancements and launches. TCC will in addition be able to realise operational efficiencies through the ability to remotely manage all STB and multiscreen apps in a unified way, all from one location.

TCC has joined the growing population of service providers around the world who recognise that Android TV enables them to seamlessly deliver a next-generation service with all the most desirable apps and services in an open source environment,” said 3SS managing director Kai-Christian Borchers commenting on the deployment.
