Indian streaming platform ZEE5 has entered a partnership with Essel Group-owned cable company Siti Broadband in a bid to extend its domestic reach.

ZEE5 logo 12 Sept 19Through the tie-up, Siti Broadband customers with plans above 100Mpbs will receive a month’s free subscription to ZEE5 as a value-added service.

Those customers on other tariff plans will also receive discounted
subscription offers for ZEE’s video-on-demand and live TV platform.

“We are delighted to partner with Siti Broadband. The coming together of two homegrown platforms will expand immense growth opportunities and grow the binge-watching culture across the country. It will pave the way for a strong and sustained growth trajectory for ZEE5 as well as Siti,” said ZEE5 India’s head of business development & commercial, Manpreet Bumrah.

Anil Malhotra, CEO, Siti Networks said: “The alliance plays to both partner’s individual strength in which consumer gets the maximum advantage. It will give both of us an opportunity to scale up our business ambitions, creating value for all our stakeholders with a focussed and strategic approach. It also gives Zee5 access to Siti Broadband households."

It is the latest in a range of alliances for ZEE5 with telecommunications service providers, payment apps and connected devices in its aggressive expansion in India and around the world. It follows hot on the heels of a **tie-up with mobile communications company Lebara Australia.

So far this year ZEE5 has launched 25 original shows, with 72 or more original shows slated to be streaming by March 2020.As of June 2019, 76.4 million global monthly active users were enjoying the over-the-top (OTT) platform’s content.
