Norwegian commercial public broadcaster TV 2’s streaming service has selected Norigin Media to build and launch its new TV apps.

NOrigin TV2Sumo 27Aug2019The apps for the TV 2 Sumo service will be built across selected large screen devices, including Samsung and LG smart TVs and the PlayStation games platform with a custom-designed user experienced created by TV 2 Sumo. The app will also be built on pay-TV operators’ set-top boxes, allowing consumers to browse the entire library of an OTT service directly. The cooperation between TV 2 Sumo and pay-TV operators will see several live deployments in 2019.

“TV 2 Sumo chose Norigin Media due to its modern framework for developing TV apps,” explained TV 2 Sumo product director Marius Bjerke. “We are happy with the scalability of the framework, as we plan to reuse the technology across multiple platforms, which is key for us to invest wisely.”

Norigin Media CEO Ajey Anand added: “This agreement is unique as it will allow us to build a modern and stable user experience across large screens, as well as help TV 2 Sumo to broaden their reach on pay-TV operators’ set-top boxes.
