One of key original commissions that showcased the UK launch of the Smithsonian Channel, Mystic Britain, has been renewed for a second series of ten all-new episodes.

Mystic Britain Series 2 Smithsonian 22Aug2019Hosted by UK TV and radio presenter Clive Anderson (Whose Line Is It Anyway, Loose Ends) and anthropologist Mary-Ann Ochota (Hidden History), the TV road trip will recommence its tour through Britain’s stunning landscapes to investigate further strange and sacred beliefs from the country’s past through the eyes of scientists, archaeologists and historians.

The series unearths what, and why, ancient Britons did in the name of their eccentric beliefs. Each hour-long episode promises guides to these ancient places and rituals and stories will include Viking Warrior Mystery, The Runes of Maeshowe and Hunting King Arthur.

The programme is produced by BAFTA award-winning production company Blink Films for Smithsonian Networks, with Dan Chambers serving as executive producer. John Cavanagh and David Royle are executive producers for Smithsonian Channel.

“Mystic Britain will once again serve as Smithsonian Channel’s all-access guide to the odd, unusual and downright wacky histories of Britain’s sacred and supernatural past,” commented David Royle, chief programming officer, Smithsonian Networks. “Clive and Mary Ann’s unique and personal perspectives lend themselves to telling these varied mystical stories in both a hilarious and illuminating way.”
