GO provides mobile, fixed line, internet and TV services to more than 500,000 customers — 10,000 of whom are pay-TV subscribers — with a fully integrated fibre-powered fixed and mobile network. It has now deployed a solution that includes Edgeware’s CDN and Origin platforms, enabling it to deliver multiscreen services and provide viewers with a fully mobile and flexible TV-experience.

Facing fierce competition in the terrestrial and cable TV arena, GO says that it is now preparing to make the leap and offer its subscribers a multiscreen service that provides the personalised and high-quality viewing experience they now demand.

GO has been an Edgeware customer for a number of years and in 2010 deployed its IPTV solution to provide customers with features such as catch-up, rewind, record and pause live TV. Edgeware says GO now has access to CDN and origin distribution solutions that will enable it to unlock the value of its live and VOD assets. It will also offer capabilities such as ad insertion and subtitling technology across more formats in order to allow it to evolve its TV services with greater interactivity and mobility.

“To effectively build our offering, we rely on high quality solutions that can cope with up to 100,000 simultaneous streams,” explained GO senior manager of TV systems Chris Attard. “No other hardware servers could deliver the reliability we asked for and Edgeware has delivered on promise in every aspect. Edgeware also presents an end-to-end solution, which means there’s no need to go elsewhere. It’s a one-stop shop with no risk and that’s very important to us as we continue innovating TV.”

“GO has clearly demonstrated its commitment to constantly elevate its TV offering and provide services that its customers love,” added Edgeware chief product and technology officer Johan Bolin. “This has already been a long and fruitful partnership, and we’re delighted to be able to continue supporting GO in its journey towards the next era of TV.”
