Dish TV India has been ordered to pay its next instalment of INR650 million to Star India by the end of August, having started to clear arrears owed to the broadcaster.

The broadcaster had issued a disconnection notice against Dish TV India on 3 July, as well as filing a recovery petition in the Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT).

Star India counsel has submitted that Dish TV’s remaining arrears run to approximately INR 1950 million.

TDSAT said it now expects Dish TV India to clear its debt to Star India in “approximate equal instalments by the end of October 2019”.

The Tribunal said: ”By the next date petitioner must show its bonafide by paying INR 65 crores by end of August towards the liquidation of said arrears. This is in addition to the payment for the current dues. If the petitioner fulfils this condition and makes the payment within the time the impugned notice shall not be given effect to till the next date.”

The next hearing for the matter is set for 4 September.
