Self-styled surf, snow and skate-focused sports and the lifestyle channel Fuel TV has struck a distribution agreement with the World Surf League (WSL) to show the 2019 Championship Tour (CT) and other select events  live in China and EMEA.

fuelTV worldsurfleague 12July2019The World Surf League (WSL) describes itself as dedicated to celebrating the world's best surfing on the world's best waves through a variety of best-in-class audience platforms. Headquartered in Santa Monica, California, the organisation has regional offices in Australasia, Africa, North America, South America, Hawaii, Japan, and Europe.

The WSL on Fuel TV will kick off with the 2019 Corona Open J-Bay, with a holding period that commenced on 9 July and runs through to 22 July. The event takes place at Jeffreys Bay in South Africa and includes both women's and men’s CT surfers competing. In addition to the remaining seven WSL CT events, Fuel TV will also be carrying select QS events along with highlights and lifestyle programming being produced by WSL Studios.

“We’re thrilled to have the WSL back on Fuel TV,” said Fernando Figueiredo, CEO of Fuel TV Global commenting on the deal. “We have a long history with professional surfing, and to have the WSL live on Fuel at this pivotal moment on the Championship Tour is a real win for our passionate audience in EMEA and China.”

“Fuel TV represents a unique opportunity for the WSL to expand its reach in two key regions,” added World Surf League CEO Sophie Goldschmidt. “The fact that Fuel has the ability to take entire events live and uninterrupted gives our fans a great viewing experience and connects us even more deeply to our growing audience around the world.”
