As the two candidates aim to become Britain's next prime minister, UK broadcaster ITV is to host a live head-to-head debate between Jeremy Hunt and Boris Johnson.

itv debate 6JUly2019On 9 July at 8pm Julie Etchingham, the host of ITV's Leaders Debates for the 2015 and 2017 UK general elections, will present Britain's Next Prime Minister: The ITV Debate in front of a studio audience in the North West of England.

ITV viewers have submitted their questions, and those selected will appear in the studio audience and will ask their question direct on the night to the candidates.

“ITV has a strong track record broadcasting important political debate programmes,” said Michael Jermey, ITV’s director of news and current affairs. “We are pleased to be hosting what is the biggest political TV event of the year so far, a live televised debate between Jeremy Hunt and Boris Johnson, one of whom will lead this country in just over two weeks’ time.”
