The series is the latest title from The Forge, producer of National Treasure.

Set to premiere on BBC One in July, Dark Money follows an ordinary family whose young son is riding a wave of success after his role in a Hollywood blockbuster, when it becomes apparent he’s suffered abuse on set by a renowned producer. His parents accept a pay-off to keep silent, not wanting to hurt their family further with a publicity storm. However, while the pay-off outwardly transforms their lifestyle, the hurt and betrayal cannot be erased, and the family begins to crack.

Starring Babou Ceesay (National Treasure), Jill Halfpenny (Three Girls, Liar) and Max Fincham (The Alienist), the four-part drama is written by Levi David Addai (Damilola, Our Loved Boy), produced by Erika Hossington (Land Girls, Doctors) and directed by Lewis Arnold (Cleaning Up, Humans). Executive producers are Levi David Addai, George Faber (Collateral), Mark Pybus (Wolf Hall) and Lucy Richer (Mrs Wilson).

all3media said that European broadcasters lined up to take the series include ETB (Spain), VRT (Belgium), ITI Neovision Ale Kino+ (Poland) and Siminn (Iceland) along with RMC Story for France, Switzerland and French-speaking Africa.

Further afield, deals have been secured with Globoplay in Brazil and VOD platform U-NEXT in Japan, while RLJ Entertainment has signed home entertainment rights for Australia and New Zealand.
