Sony Imaging Products & Solutions has acquired a minority stake in virtualised production specialist Nevion, and the two businesses will establish a strategic partnership to develop IP-based solutions for broadcasters.

Sony Nevion 28June2019Nevion provides IP media network solutions for the real-time transport, processing, monitoring and management of the video, audio and data signals used in production.

According to Nevion, the partnership with Sony will allow customers to benefit from more advanced, fully integrated and standards-based media production solutions that will make it easier for customers to move to IP both in their facilities and for remote production, while improving their ability to create content through greater sharing of resources.

Geir Bryn-Jensen, Nevion CEO, said: “This is an exciting alliance for Nevion, its customers and its partners. It is based on very complementary solutions, products and know-how, and will allow us to offer a lot more to our customers, both existing and potential, than we have been able to until now. It will also give us a much greater scalability and reach.”

Mikio Kita, senior GM of Sony Imaging Products & Solutions Media Solution Business Division, added: “Through this strategic partnership, we will be able to expand our end-to-end IP solution offerings that allow customers to produce live content connecting multiple locations.
