The much-awaited season two of Killing Eve delivered the highest season-over-season ratings growth of any returning TV drama on US television in the last three years.

Nielsen live+7 ratings showed that compared with season 1, the series grew 87% in terms of total viewers and 78% in the key adults 25-54 demographic. Season two averaged 1.8 million viewers per episode, including 754,000 adults 25-54 and 562,000 adults 18-49.

Produced by Sid Gentle Films for BBC America, Killing Eve is a story of two women, bound by a mutual obsession and one brutal act. Eve (Sandra Oh) is an MI6 operative tasked with finding Villanelle (Jodie Comer), an assassin with an eye for fashion every bit as sharp as her acumen in her day job.

The full season of Killing Eve premiered on BBC America and was simulcast on AMC. Starting with the season two premiere, new episodes were made available to AMC Premiere customers 48 hours before they appeared on linear television, generating significant usage over the course of the season said AMC. Around half of first-week viewing occurred during the pre-premiere window each week.

The new series has also been a force dominating conversation in social media. On the night of the season two premiere, Killing Eve was the most-talked-about and most searched programme on social platforms, and the finale was the top social drama series, to go along with a number of other leading social metrics. The series generated more than 11 million social engagements across season two and was up double digits in activity over the course of the season.

Killing Eve is Based on the Codename Villanelle novellas by Luke Jennings, the second season of Killing Eve was executive produced by Sally Woodward Gentle, Lee Morris, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Gina Mingacci, lead writer Emerald Fennell and director Damon Thomas. Sandra Oh and Francesca Gardiner were co-executive producers. Elinor Day served as series producer. Lisa Brühlmann and Francesca Gregorini also directed. Killing Eve is distributed by Endeavor Content.

For season three, Suzanne Heathcote (Fear the Walking Dead) will come on board to serve as lead writer and executive producer and will also be executive produced by Sally Woodward Gentle, Lee Morris, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Gina Mingacci, Damon Thomas and Sandra Oh. Jeff Melvoin (Designated Survivor, Alias) also joins the team as executive producer.
