The HbbTV Association, the global initiative dedicated to providing an open standard for the delivery of interactive TV services through broadcast networks and broadband for connected TV sets and set-top boxes, has announced seven new members.

hbbtv display 22 feb 2018HbbTV has been adopted in 36 countries around the world. Over 300 applications on more than 44 million consumer devices are using the open specifications to add features such as interactive services, OTT offers or targeted advertising to linear TV channels.

The new members encompass conditional access, multimedia software and hardware providers and include ARRIS (now part of CommScope), Irdeto, DATV, Enensys Technologies, Fluendo, Samba TV and SmarDTV Global. With the new members, the HbbTV Association's membership base has risen to more than 75 companies.

“We are excited about so many diverse and significant industry players joining the HbbTV Association. It is a further confirmation that HbbTV is really a focal point where the TV experience of the future is being prepared, and we are glad to see these companies come to shape it with their peers,” said Vincent Grivet, chair of the HbbTV Association.
