Leading European producer, distributor and international seller of TV series and feature films, StudioCanal, has announced a raft of international sales packages for its high-profile drama series.
At the vanguard of the slate is Years and Years (6 x 60’) — a RED production for BBC One, HBO and Canal+ — and is described as a landmark drama and led by what it calls unprecedented interest.
In Europe, StudioCanal has also sold Trust Me (series 1 and 2), as well as the Iberian rights to thriller Sanctuary (8 x 60’) to HBO Europe. BBC Benelux has snapped up Years and Years, Come Home and The Five, in what is StudioCanal first deal with the broadcaster in the region.
StudioCanal has also struck an agreement with HBO Latin America for Years and Years and thriller, Moscow Noir (8 x 60’). In Russia, StudioCanal has brokered a further inaugural deal with Amedia TV’s streaming service Amediateka, and also for Years and Years, Sanctuary and 90’ drama feature, The Child in Time.
Finally, Years and Years, Pros and Cons and The Lawyer will receive an Israeli audience through sales to yes, DBS Israel.
“We had an amazing response to Years and Years at MIPTV, which demonstrates the positive impact of having high-profile co-production partners, such as HBO, BBC and Canal + on board,” said Beatriz Campos, head of international sales, StudioCanal. “We were blown away by the excitement generated by our latest shows in Cannes with our biggest line-up to date with 12 new series presented at the market.”
