The figures in the North America OTT TV & Video Forecasts report excludes platforms such as sports services and also are gross totals, recognising that many homes take more than one SVOD platform.

Indeed the analyst forecasts that 77.8% of TV households (94 million) will subscribe to at least one SVOD platform by 2024. Moreover, it calculates that the average SVOD household will pay for 2.89 subscriptions. This compares with at the end of 2018 when 70.0% of TV households (84 million) TV households subscribed to at least one SVOD platform and the average SVOD subscriber paid for 1.91 SVOD platforms at end-2018.

The North America OTT TV & Video Forecasts report also noted the several imminent high profile SVOD launches in the market and it expects that Disney+ will have 25 million US subscribers by 2024. The study forecasts that Apple TV+’s growth will be more modest at 8 million by 2024, all of which meaning that Netflix’s share of the total will fall from 37% in 2018 to 25% in 2024, despite the company adding 10 million subscribers.
