Canada’s Breakthrough Entertainment is continuing its expansion into the US market, having finalised a strategic partnership with Los Angeles-based Vast Entertainment.

breakthrough 10 april 2019The venture will task Vast to produce and direct both romantic holiday films and female-lead thrillers, while Breakthrough will serve as international distributor.

"We are elated to have the opportunity to forge a strong relationship with Lane and Vast Entertainment," said Ira Levy, partner and executive producer at Breakthrough Entertainment. “Their dynamic approach to production and ability to create quality adaptations make Vast an ideal partner for us. The collaboration will undoubtedly produce attractive films for television audiences globally.”

The pact covers six to eight made-for-TV films produced over 18 months, in both Canada and the United States. The first offering will be Switch, a dark thriller about the murder of one sister's twin. These will target the North American TV market for buyers such as Lifetime, Netflix and Hallmark, and will be produced for international distribution.
