The non-profit advocate group for gender diversity within the broadcast manufacturing and services sector, Rise has scooped the National Women’s Mentoring Award at the National Mentoring Awards.

Rise awards 5March2019Founded by leading business mentor Chelsey Baker, The National Mentoring Awards are a national celebration to honour mentoring excellence and give public recognition to individuals and organisations who mentor across all walks of life, whether in their business, community, personal or professional lives.

The recently held ceremony saw mentors acclaimed for their outstanding achievements. The event was attended by over 300 of the UK’s top mentors, mentoring organisations alongside business leaders, government officials and CEO’s from multiples sectors of business, and society.

Rise was said to have been recognised by the National Mentoring Awards because of its efforts to inspire and guide young professionals within the broadcasting technology sector.

Beginning in 2018, the free to join mentoring scheme was founded to open opportunity for female broadcast professionals in non-craft roles through holding quarterly networking events, seminars, and of course the yearly mentoring programme. The scheme benefits 20 women each year who are either currently working in or aspiring to work in the broadcasting technology sector. Mentees also benefit from one-to-one mentor contact and monthly meetings with their mentor.

Commenting on the win, Rise director Carrie Wootten (right in picture) said: “I am absolutely delighted that the Rise Mentoring Programme has won this award. It is recognition of the impact that the mentoring programme had on our mentees and our mentors involved last year, and then in turn, how this has benefitted the wider broadcast manufacturing and services sector. It was a truly inspirational evening and wonderful to be amongst organisations delivering such fantastic programmes. I am really looking forward to reading the applications for this year’s scheme and would like to thank all of our industry sponsors and partners for supporting us and enabling this to happen.”

The 2019 Rise Mentoring programme is still open for applications until March 29th. The programme will run from May to November 2019. Current Rise sponsors include Avid, imagen, Clear-Com, NEP, dpp, Pixelogic, Bubble Agency and CVP and the organisation is actively seeking industry sponsors for 2019.
