Media software centre Epic Labs, developer of the LightFlow API-based video optimising solutions, has been qualified by content delivery network provider Akamai as one of its video-on-demand transcoding media technology partners.

Epic Labs’ LightFlow Optimiser Suite is designed to help publishers improve their video streaming workflow with the goal of increasing user engagement and reducing operating costs. While its optimising suite helps publishers increase the perceptual quality of video content while reducing its payload, the technology also automates transcoding tasks by automatically inheriting profiles from an Akamai platform.
As part of the partnership, Epic Labs has integrated its products with Akamai NetStorage and Adaptive Media Delivery to provide customers with solutions for delivering what it says is the highest quality VOD end user experience.
“Akamai has been the de-facto standard of streaming video industry for over 20 years, working together with the household names and the most successful video companies in the world,” said Epic Labs CEO and co-founder Alfonso Peletier commenting on the accreditation. “This is a great opportunity for us to join forces with the market leader in the video CDN arena. Our combined solutions will help many customers to reach out to their audiences with a faster go-to-market, enhanced quality, for an improved viewer engagement and direct positive impact in their business models.”
Added Akamai senior product line director Jon Alexander: “Content publishers today expect their publishing workflows to be as flexible, smooth and reliable as possible while providing the best-possible experience to their viewers. Epic Labs products integrate seamlessly with the Akamai platform and help companies to successfully address those business challenges.”
