On the Minerva front, TiVo has signed a multi-year intellectual property (IP) licence renewal and global metadata deal and will be the tech company’s primary metadata provider for the cloud service delivery platform, Minerva YourTV Now.

The metadata deal enables Minerva to unify its metadata across the Minerva 10 platform and gain the benefits of using a single provider, rather than relying on multiple vendors.

“TiVo’s IP continues to provide companies around the world with access to transformative entertainment technologies, and our licence renewal with Minerva Networks underscores the leadership position of TiVo’s portfolio in the marketplace,” said Arvin Patel, executive vice president and chief IP officer at TiVo owner Rovi. “Thanks to our extensive IP portfolio, Minerva Networks can deliver compelling experiences to customers in the United States, Latin America and around the world.”

“We are excited to expand our partnership with Minerva Networks and are honoured by the trust they have placed in us,” said Sarah Gaeta, senior vice president and general manager, metadata, TiVo. “We look forward to supporting Minerva with innovative entertainment enhancements that will be enjoyed for years to come by its current and future customers.”

With izzi in Mexico, TiVo has signed a licence for interactive programme guides (IPG) and entertainment metadata for the cableco’s video service. The multi-year agreement supports a wider deployment of TiVo’s Passport Guide and adds comprehensive video metadata for TV and video programmes.

It will add TiVo’s Passport Guide for set-top boxes to its operations in Mexico City and Monterrey, and add TiVo Video metadata, to support a modern, HD programme guide and enhanced features.

“TiVo’s powerful technology platform is the best choice for our customers because it offers a whole solution – an HD user experience with advanced features plus high-quality and accurate entertainment metadata, which together creates an engaging experience for our subscribers to easily and quickly find the shows or movies they want to watch on TV,” said Guillermo Salcedo, corporate product director at izzi. “Thanks to our partnership with TiVo, we are able to offer our customers a new and advanced entertainment experience quickly and with minimal service interruption.”
