Brave Software has joined AdLedger, the non-profit research and development consortium focussed on blockchain standards for digital advertising.

adledger 19 dec 2018Brave developed a privacy browser combined with a blockchain-based digital advertising platform. It has 4.7 million monthly active users, and over 23,000 creators/publishers. The company was co-founded by Brendan Eich, creator of JavaScript and co-founder of Mozilla, and Brian Bondy, formerly of Khan Academy and Mozilla.

“The AdLedger consortium members are behind the most meaningful, high-impact blockchain and cryptography implementations for media related projects,” said Eich. “We’re excited to join AdLedger to help implement new standards, and to build a better foundation for digital advertising.”

The AdLedger consortium consists of advertisers, agencies, publishers and technology providers, such as Publicis, Omnicom, IPG Reprise Digital, GroupM, MadHive, Coindesk, Meredith, TEGNA, IBM and more than 50 other companies in the advertising industry.

“AdLedger is uniting the most forward-thinking companies in the digital space, and working together will ensure a sustainable ecosystem for the future of the internet,” said Christiana Cacciapuoti, executive director at AdLedger. “Through collaboration, partnerships and proof-of-concepts, we are reimagining and redefining what we know as the world wide web.”
