Digital streaming service iflix is now available to 41 million mobile users in Thailand, after agreeing a distribution partnership with telco Advanced Info Service (AIS).

iflix partners with AIS 12 Dec 2018The paid, VIP tier of the Kuala Lumpur-based video-on-demand (VOD) service will now be offered with integrated carrier billing and sachet payments to AIS customers.

The agreement follows the iflix tie-ups announced last month with other Singtel affiliates, Globe Telecom in the Philippines and PT Telekomunikasi Selular (Telkomsel) in Indonesia.

“These deals represent years of hard work, late nights and tough negotiations by all teams to unlock this huge growth opportunity. 2018 has been a defining year for us in many ways, most recently with these pivotal alliances with the region’s largest commercial partners, including Globe, Telkomsel and now AIS, collectively representing a customer base of more than 270 million in just Indonesia, the Philippines and Thailand alone,” said Mark Britt, co-founder and CEO, iflix.

“We are thrilled to be chosen by AIS as a premier media and content partner to offer their customers the best content and payment convenience available with our iflixVIP service,” he added.

iflixVIP is being offered to AIS customers from THB7 per day or THB29 per week through their mobile account. Pre- and post-paid monthly iflixVIP plans are priced at THB99 per month.

So, we intend to deliver the service to customers across the country with continuously improving our content partnership to give the best entertainment to reach all of our customer’s lifestyles,” said Pratthana Leelapanang, chief consumer business officer, AIS.

The streaming service, which is aimed at emerging markets across Asia, Africa and the Middle East, offers consumers a library of Hollywood, regional, and local TV shows and movies, as well as news. Each subscription allows users to access the services on up to five devices, including smartphones, laptops, tablets, and connected TV sets.
