Looking Glass is celebrating a spate of sales in Asia, following content distribution deals with broadcasters in Japan, Hong Kong, India and Thailand.

Looking Glass HarveyWeinstein 4Dec2018The one hour crime docudrama Beyond Boundaries: The Harvey Weinstein Scandal, produced by UK independent production house Entertain Me has been sold to Japan’s public broadcaster NHK, along with The Asian Pitch (TAP) documentaries Travelling Talkies and 24th Street for its international network NHK World.

In Travelling Talkies, Anup Jagdale attempts to keep the tradition of travelling cinemas alive in rural India. While 24th Street offers an original twist to the story of modernizing China, where a man who is unable to remain in his restaurant in Hangzou’s mega development 24th Street returns to the wife and four children he left in his native home 30 years ago.

Hong Kong-based telco PCCW has acquired 57 hours of programming, including two hour long documentaries Amy Winehouse: The Final Goodbye and Adele: Someone Like You. The emotional four part series Silent Screams, produced by MAKE Productions for Channel News Asia, is also part of the **Looking Glass International  (LGI) distribution deal.

Indian network AETN-18 has picked up Flight 33 Productions’ history and science series for Curiosity Stream, Deep Time History (3 x 60’) and Digits (3 x 60’), along with TAP’s one-hour documentary An Engineered Dream, produced by Hemant Gaba Productions. The latter programme follows four teenagers who travel to coaching city Kota to prepare for one of the globe’s toughest undergraduate engineering exams with an acceptance rate of less than 1%.

LGI has also provided Cineplex Thailand with the ten part factual series Netherlands from Above, showing The Netherlands from a spectacular perspective through data visualisations, impressive aerial images and portraits of people on the ground.
