Indicating how far the SVOD giant is progressing with its move into original content in the country, Netflix has revealed that it has completed principal photography in India on action-adventure feature film Dhaka.

The film presents an underworld of weapons dealers and traffickers, a young boy becomes the pawn in a war between notorious drug lords. Trapped by kidnappers inside one of the world’s most impenetrable cities, his rescue beckons the unparalleled skill of a mercenary named Tyler Rake. But Rake is a broken man with nothing to lose, harbouring a death wish that makes an already deadly mission near impossible.

 Chris Hemsworth (The Avengers, Thor: Ragnorak) stars in this latest Netflix adventure and sees Sam Hargrave makes his directorial debut using an original script by Joe Russo. Other stars include David Harbour (Stranger Things, Hellboy), Golshifteh Farahani (Paterson, Body of Lies), Randeep Hooda (Highway, Kick, Sarbjit), Manoj Bajpayee (Gangs of Wasseypur, Aligarh, In the Shadows), Priyanshu Painyuli (Bhavesh Joshi Superhero, Once Again) and Rudhraksh Jaiswal.

The film is being produced by Anthony and Joe Russo and Mike Larocca under their AGBO Films banner. Hemsworth will produce for his own company Thematic Entertainment. Also producing is Eric Gitter (Atomic Blonde), Patrick Newall (The Old Man & the Gun) and AGBO Film’s Ari Costa will Executive Produce. Ben Grayson co-produces for Thematic Entertainment. Filming took place in Ahmedabad and Mumbai and will now move to Bangkok and Phuket, Thailand. Production is set to wrap in late February.
