Set in the late 1970s, The Little Drummer Girl — starring Alexander Skarsgård (Big Little Lies, True Blood, Tarzan) as Becker, Michael Shannon (The Shape of Water, Nocturnal Animals) as Kurtz, and BAFTA-nominated Florence Pugh (Lady Macbeth, Outlaw King) as Charlie — is a story of espionage and high-stakes international intrigue. It follows actress and idealist Charlie whose resolve is tested after she meets the mysterious Becker while on holiday in Greece. Her encounter with him entangles her in a complex plot devised by the spy mastermind Kurtz.

The six-part mini-series is financed and produced by The Ink Factory in partnership with 127 Wall alongside co-producers and commissioning broadcasters the BBC and AMC, represented by Mona Qureshi and Kristin Jones respectively. Laura Hastings-Smith (Howards End, Macbeth, Hunger) serves as producer with Simon and Stephen Cornwell — who last worked on global hit and fellow le Carré adaptation The Night Manager — serving as executive producers alongside John le Carré, Joe Tsai and Arthur Wang for 127 Wall, Mike Lesslie, Wonjo Jeong, and Park Chan-wook who also directed, marking his television debut.

International rights are handled by Endeavor Content. In addition to the aforementioned broadcasters covering France, Germany, Italy, second window UK, Ireland Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland and Benelux, it has also been picked up by Stod 2 (Iceland), Hot (Israel), Kan 11 (Israel second window), BBC First (Australia), SBS (Australia second window), and TVNZ (New Zealand).

“The Little Drummer Girl is a stylish, action-packed thriller, and the growing list of global partners coming on board reflects the anticipation of audiences and the international appeal of our incredible source material, director and cast,” said Gary Marenzi, head of entertainment sales and partnerships for Endeavor Content. “We are delighted to be joining with international broadcasters to invite audiences into le Carré’s high-stakes theatre of the real.”
