Sony Pictures Television (SPT) has partnered with Sony Interactive Entertainment, UK (SIE UK) to launch the POP App, a brand new on-demand app for kids.
SOnyPO 20Sep2018
Aimed at 7-11-year olds, the POP App is free for all connected PlayStation 4 (PS4) devices and available to download from the PlayStation Store (PS Store) now. It provides on-demand content from leading UK commercial kids channel POP and POP MAX, including an extensive catalogue of popular programme franchises, movies and first-run shows. The new service comes with instant access to titles such as Pokémon, Power Rangers, Lego Nexo Knights and more.

The POP App follows the launch of the POP Fun App which SPT debuted in 2017, and is designed to give more people access to POP and its wide selection of kids’ entertainment through television, tablet and mobile devices and now via PS4. It also builds on the existing free-to-air linear channel which is home to franchises including Pokémon, Power Rangers, and Lego Nexo Knights. Alongside its sister channels Tiny POP and POP MAX, SPT’s linear kids’ portfolio reaches 2.6 million children every month.

“At SPT, we’re focused on strengthening our direct-to-consumer businesses and are committed to developing new ways to reach audiences,” remarked Ian Durndell, executive vice president, digital distribution and direct-to-consumer, SPT. “This partnership with our sister company, PlayStation, gives us an exciting opportunity to reach out to more family audiences with some of the UK’s most popular kids content through the PS4 network.”
