With what it says is a mission to enable immersive media experiences for everyone, everywhere, Ericsson Media Solutions has changed its corporate identity to MediaKind.

MK logo lockupstrap CMYKThe move marks new era for the company which has been in the process of divesting itself from its former parent communications technology giant and which in January 2018 became majority-owned (51%) by private equity firm One Equity Partners. At the time, One Equity assured that when its deal closed in the third quarter of 2018, Ericsson Media Solutions employees and contractors, as well as specified assets and liabilities, would transfer to a newly formed company which would be positioned as a premier independent pure-play video technology vendor, with both hardware and software solutions. 

The MediaKind brand will be carried forward when the transaction between One Equity Partners and Ericsson is completed and the new firm will target service providers, operators, content owners and broadcasters and will set out to drive next-generation live and on-demand, mobile and multiscreen media experiences.

End-to-end video delivery solutions include video compression solutions for contribution and direct-to-consumer video service distribution, advertising and content personalisation solutions and cloud DVR delivery platforms. Through various corporate M&As, will gain the heritage of media technology firms such as Aspex, Azuki Systems, Envivio, Fabrix, HyCGroup, Microsoft Mediaroom and Tandberg Television.

Current CEO Angel Ruiz will continue as MediaKInd chief executive for the new company and commenting on the new identity, he said: “We understand the power of media and how it is evolving.
