Pakistan’s Sports Star is to broadcast its HD TV channel Public News via AsiaSat 7, after extending its deal with the regional satellite operator.

AsiaSat logo 27 June 2018Sports Star already transmits entertainment channel A-Plus and women’s channel A-Lite on AsiaSat 7, to Pakistan and across the Asia-Pacific. Public News will now add to its channel tally, delivering daily news bulletins in HD to viewers.

AsiaSat will also support Public News’ satellite news gathering (SNG) services through Ku-band capacity on AsiaSat 7.

“Pakistan represents one of our most important and largest media markets. We are thrilled to offer additional capacity to Sports Star, strengthening their ability to diversify content for Asia-Pacific audiences. The launch of Public News on AsiaSat advances our goal of growing our HD bouquet of international and local news channels,” said Barrie Woolston, chief commercial officer, AsiaSat.

It is the latest in Urdu programming delivered by AsiaSat, which has been serving satellite TV viewers in Pakistan since 1991.
