Mediaset’s Telecinco scored Spain's highest TV audience of 2018, as 14.67 million fans watched La Roja qualify for the last 16 of the World Cup.
Monday's dramatic match, which saw a last gasp goal from Iago Aspas to make it 2-2 against Morocco, achieved a 75.1% audience share at its highest peak, according to Kantar and Barlovento Comunicación ratings.
On average, 11.56 million viewers, representing a 70.3% audience share, watched the game live on Telecinco.
With these figures, Telecinco approaches the end of the opening round of the World Cup finals in Russia with record audience figures.
Spain’s first game against Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal reached an average 10.4 million viewers and a 68% share, while the national team’s second match against Iran scored 11.4 million viewers and a 68.9% share.
Mediaset, which is broadcasting the tournament’s 64 games live and free-to-air, has also confirmed advertising sales have increased during the first week of the competition, compared to the FIFA World Cup Brazil 2014.
