Fox Network Group (FNG) is preparing to roll out an over-the-top (OTT) video service for viewers in the Middle East.

FNG logo 13 June 2018“We are in the process of working out the details on our own OTT product. We will have our own differentiation and will be able to come out with [it] sometime very soon,” Sanjay Raina, regional general manager and senior vice-president, FNG and National Geographic, told Arabian Business.

The company’s Fox+ streaming platform, which delivers Fox’s linear channels as well as video-on-demand content, is already widely available through affiliate partners in Europe and South America.

Last year Fox+ Asia was also introduced in the Philippines and Singapore, followed by Taiwan with Chunghwa Telecom, and Hong Kong through PCCW’s Now TV.

The Middle East digital video market is far from saturated, Raina said, although it is already home to players such as Netflix, Starz Play, Shahid+, wavo, icflix and iflix. There is opportunity in the region, given its population of more than 300 million multi-national and predominantly young inhabitants, he added.

A launch date for Fox’s Middle East streaming service has not yet been disclosed.
