Spain’s Hispasat is to provide the necessary satellite capacity for Altice-owned MEO to broadcast 28 World Cup games in 4K HDR quality.

meo 4k 13 june 2018The Ultra HD games will air on the RTP1 4K channel, starting with the opening match Russia vs Saudi Arabia tomorrow (14 June). The Ultra HD line-up includes all of Portugal’s matches, three games from the second round, three quarter finals, the semi-finals and the final on 15 July in Moscow’s Luzhniki stadium.

All the matches will be broadcast by MEO, the largest telco player in Portugal, through the Hispasat 30W-5 satellite.

The Altice-owned operator has included Hispasat 4K, a channel exclusively dedicated to Ultra HD content, in its portfolio of channels since 2016.
