The Indian Premier League (IPL) final between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) saw a massive 41% hike in viewers in India this year, compared with the tournament’s 2017 conclusion.

IPL 2018 ratings pie chart 11 June 2018The twenty20 cricket match played on Sunday 27 May achieved 55.6 million impressions, according to India’s Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC). The figures were for Star India’s IPL coverage on 17 different channels in eight languages, as well as from public broadcaster Doordarshan (DD).

The Hindi market took the largest share (54%) of the total ratings in India, followed by English (24%) and 22% watching regional language feeds.

Total impressions rose 15% to 1.4 billion for IPL’s 11th season, compared to last year’s 1.2 billion impressions. Sony Pictures Networks held the popular cricket tournament’s pay-TV rights in 2017 .

BARC data shows the other most watched matches of this season were the opening match with 35.9 impressions, and the third match between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Royal Challengers Bangalore with 53.1 million impressions.
