Singapore's TotallyAwesome is teaming with fellow city state-based Mediacorp to launch its video-on-demand (VOD) and digital advertising platform in the Asia-Pacific.

MediaCorp Singapore logo 6 June 2018Assuring that it provides suitable online content for children, the service enables kids to choose how and what they view. It also believes that it offers an attractive proposition for digital advertisers keen to safeguard their brand.

“Kids are switching their preference from traditional programmed TV to digital TV content with VOD viewing being one of the most popular activities. We are pleased to have such great partners to expand the reach of our marketplace with this new format and are working on similar launch partnerships in other APAC countries in the coming months,” said Quan Nguyen, CEO, TotallyAwesome.

“We provide high quality international and local content for kids that entertains, engages and educates. We deliver this content across linear and non-linear platforms to cater to all media consumption habits. Kids are an important, niche audience for Mediacorp that need to be treated with care.”

The VOD service will be provided in Singapore via Mediacorp’s over-the-top (OTT) video platform Toggle. It will be both COPPA and GDPR-K compliant, to comply with data privacy and child safety regulations.

In a recent survey, APAC Kids’ Digital Insights 2018 **, TotallyAwesome found 77% of kids aged six to 14 said they watch YouTube. TV viewing on tablets and mobile phones was popular with 42% of those children surveyed, while 72% of parents in the Asia-Pacific said they watch videos online together with their kids.
