After successfully testing the company’s security product at the Eurovision Song Contest 2018, Portuguese national broadcaster Rádio e Televisão de Portugal (RTP) has contracted Vualto to provide DRM services for its RTP Play service.

RTP VUDRM 29May2018RTP was host broadcaster of the Eurovision Song Contest and broadcast to hundreds of thousands of viewers on the night. The RTP Play streaming service is designed to provide access to high quality viewing of live and on-demand RTP channels and radio stations across all devices.

This project also marks the first collaboration between Vualto and Radiant Media Player, a native HTML5 player supporting multiple codecs, HLS and MPEG-DASH. It is said to ‘feature rich’, offering ‘extensive’ ad integration including an ad scheduler, a built-in waterfalling solution and server-side ad insertion.

Radiant Media Player now has full support for Vualto’s DRM (VUDRM) framework which is a collection of readymade components that integrate with existing broadcast workflows to deliver multi-vendor content protection. This service is scalable, serving thousands of licences per minute. VUDRM is used by leading broadcasters across Europe and the US.
