Panama’s leading media group has selected Applicaster technology to launch an over-the-top (OTT), mobile platform that integrates all its online feeds.

medcom go app 17 may 2018Until now, Medcom has had five independent digital properties for TV and radio. “We realised that we were isolating our content. Now, it doesn’t matter whether a user prefers to watch a highlights video, Telemetro’s live signal or listen to the radio,” commented Francisco Hernández, director, innovation, Medcom.

Through the Medcom Go app, available for Android and iOS devices, the company also intends to gather consumption data in order to identify trends and users’ tastes, implementing different recommendation tools.

While the OTT platform has been running for three weeks, the first real test will take place during the FIFA World Cup, when a demand uptick is expected. “All the content related to Russia 2018 will be available on the go through the app, including games, pre-matches, highlights, recaps,” added the director of innovation.

The mobile application was developed together with Applicaster’s team, lead by Laura Tapias, general manager for Latin America. Medcom Go has been launched with Apple TV support and will soon release a Chromecast integration, followed by apps for smart TVs and Roku.
