Having just delivered a 75% increase in video-on-demand (VOD) views year-on-year in 2017, UKTV has expanded the reach of its UKTV Play free, TV on-demand service to NOW TV devices and Roku streaming players.

UKTV 22Feb2018The UKTV Play app hosts shows from Dave, Yesterday, Really and Drama, including exclusive UKTV Originals and thousands of hours from the network’s archive. The on-demand service was the leading British commercial broadcaster’s fastest growing brand in 2017, recording a 75% annual increase in direct-to-consumer views. October 2017 saw UKTV Play's best month ever, driven by UKTV Originals, Taskmaster and Red Dwarf XII, contributing to 21% and a tenth of the month's views respectively.

Under the terms of the new deal, NOW TV and Roku users will now have access to UKTV’s top box sets, from the multi-award-winning Taskmaster, to Yianni: Supercar Customiser with YouTube celebrity Yianni Charalambous, and Most Haunted for all the paranormal fans out there. They can also watch exclusive preview episodes from the new series of Dara O Briain’s Go 8 Bit and Cop Car Workshop, a brand new UKTV Original documentary series featuring behind-the-scenes access to one of Britain’s police car workshops. Preview episodes from both shows will be available on UKTV play a week ahead of transmission on TV, on Dave.

The UKTV Play app will be automatically downloaded on NOW TV Boxes and NOW TV Smart Sticks purchased from tomorrow and it can be downloaded from the App Store for viewers who already own a NOW TV streaming device. Roku users can add UKTV Play from the Film & TV category in the Roku Channel Store.
