Conviva has opened an office in Spain, targeting the country’s over-the-top (OTT) players with its video artificial intelligence (AI) platform.
Through the Madrid-based office, Conviva will target the OTT needs of the local market, which, the company has claimed, is the second largest in Europe in terms of viewing time, fourth in total plays, fourth in average minutes per ended play, and sixth in average completion rate.
“In addition to their strong viewing data, Spain is an exciting market in terms of potential pay-TV revenue,” pointed out the company through a release. “Total pay-TV revenues, up 14.7%, reached €1.042 billion until June. Spain’s leaders in the OTT space include Telefónica setting the bar with its Movistar Plus, which has 3.6 million subscribers and revenues of €842 million, followed by Vodafone with 1.3 million subscribers and €113.6 million in revenues, and Orange with 528,000 subscribers and €24.8 million in revenues.”
Conviva’s expansion to Spain follows office openings in France, China, and India in 2017, and bolsters its global presence in several major markets.
The AI-powered video solution, which has been recently released, automatically detects service delivery issues to give a consistently higher quality of experience.
