Brazilian airline GOL will start delivering on-board live TV thanks a multi-channel agreement with Globo and Globosat.
Through the on-board Wi-Fi network, on which on-demand content was already available, passengers will have access to the live feed of TV Globo, GloboNews, Gloob, GNT, Multishow and Canal OFF on their own devices.
According to the company, 70% of the fleet has the necessary technology for adding the new feature. By the end of 2018, the airline plans to have all the planes properly equipped.
“Innovation is key for GOL, we had to launch live TV. We are happy to become Latin America’s first airline to offer connectivity, on-demand entertainment and live TV to our clients,” said Paulo Miranda, executive director, products and customer experience, GOL.
The live content will be delivered through a browser app across passengers’ devices which are connected to the in-flight network, powered by Gogo, which also provides the on-board IPTV and VOD platform.
With 700 daily flights to 65 different destinations across Brazil, Latin America and the Caribbean, GOL keeps strategical alliances with Delta Air Lines, Air France and KLM.
