Fox Networks Group Asia has appointed Showmax founder, John Kotsaftis as executive vice president of its over-the-top (OTT) video platform FOX+.

John Kotsaftis 12 Jan 2018Based in Singapore, Kotsaftis will be responsible for the growth and development of the digital streaming platform, which premieres first-run content at the same time as linear channels and offers an extensive back catalogue of both Hollywood and Chinese blockbusters.

Kotsaftis – who has notched up 23 years working in entertainment and technology – founded the sub-Saharan African subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) service Showmax while working with Naspers in South Africa. Before joining FNGA, he served as CEO of MultiChoice’s DStv Digital Media division. He will now report directly to Zubin Gandevia, president of Fox Networks Group Asia (FNGA).
