ESPN has launched the Brazilian edition of its flagship ESPN app for iOS and Android, releasing a Portuguese-language version for the first time.

brasil espn app 10 january 2018The move is part of a newly relaunched suite of digital products in the market, which also includes a revamp of ESPN.com.br. The new mobile app delivers a comprehensive collection of ESPN multimedia content to fans in Brazil, allowing them to customise news, scores, information and alerts on their mobile devices.

Regarding enhanced personalization, the ESPN APP allows videos based on favourite teams to bring personalised streams to the home screen. It also features offers extensive live and automated data for all of the key football leagues in Brazil.

With the Brazilian launch, the app is now available in 12 localised editions and multiple languages around the world, delivering a combination of content produced by local editorial and production teams and ESPN’s global sports news organisation.

“ESPN is laser-focused on serving Brazilian sports fans, wherever they may be,” said German Hartenstein, general manager of ESPN Brazil. “The launch of the ESPN app is in line with that mission. After extensive research and localisation, the app’s launch in the Brazilian market aims to serve fans who consume sports content all day long on their mobile devices.”

The launch of the app expands ESPN’s platforms in Brazil, the networks second largest digital market behind the US. In addition to the mobile platform, ESPN manages in the country four pay-TV channels (ESPN Brasil, ESPN, ESPN+ and ESPN Extra), the ESPN.com.br and WatchESPN.
