The December Netflix ISP Speed Index, the streaming giant’s monthly update through which ISPs provide the best prime time streaming experience, saw significant gains around the world.

netflix 9 jan 2018In Poland, Play and Inea experienced the largest speed gains in December. Play saw its speeds gain by 0.58Mbps, bringing its average monthly speed to 2.62Mbps, up from 2.04Mbps in November. Inea meanwhile followed, with speeds increasing to a monthly average of 3.85Mbps, up from 3.3Mbps the month prior. These gains combined with the following speed increases at Polish ISPs helped Poland jump 11 spots to 22nd in the overall country rankings:

Also in Poland, Toya’s speeds improved by 0.54Mbps, increasing its average monthly speed to 3.88Mbps, up from 3.34Mbps in November. This bolstered Toya three spots to No 1 in Poland.

Axtel Acceso Universal in Mexico continued to see its average speed improve a second month in a row. Its speed increased by 0.39Mbps, increasing its average monthly speed to 1.83Mbps.

Other notable gains in the Index this month were experienced by Ireland’s Imagine, with speeds improving by 0.37Mbps, increasing its average monthly speed to 2.79Mbps (from 2.42Mbps in November); Italy’s Wind, which experienced an increase of 0.36Mbps to reach 3.07Mbps (up from 2.71 Mbps in November); and Ecuador’s Claro, which saw speeds climb by 0.36Mbps, increasing its average monthly speed to 3.02Mbps.

In the not-so-good news, Netflix also revealed that South Korea’s SK broadband and Austria’s CableLink experienced the biggest speed declines this month. SK broadband’s speeds slowed by 0.30Mbps, decreasing its average to 2.22Mbps (from 2.52Mbps in November). CableLink’s speeds declined by 0.38Mbps, slowing to an average monthly speed to 3.76Mbps, down from 4.14Mbps the month prior.
