Star Sports will have a new chief executive officer (CEO) in Gautam Thakar from January 2018, the 21st Century Fox-owned Indian sports network has announced.

Gautam brings over 20 years of deep operating and leadership experience, most recently leading LivingSocial (acquired by Groupon) and as general manager responsible for building a multi-million dollar Adtech business. Overall, he spent ten years at eBay in a range of leadership roles, including country manager for eBay India and global marketing leader for eBay’s international markets.

Earlier in his career Gautum helped baazee.com as a founding management team member to become the No 1 e-commerce company, and was brand manager with P&G in India.

Gautam has an MBA from IIM, Lucknow and prior to that a Bachelor’s in Commerce from Sydenham College, Mumbai.
